Marie Charlotte Husse's Parents

Ancestry.com has this new gimmick now. When you add a person a green box pops up and says "potential father/mother." Sometimes it's accurate. Sometimes....eh, it isn't. That brings me to this lady. I was adding people in and I see that she has potential parents. I'm like "Okay. Cool." I check Wikitree and Geni and both places don't have parents for her.

I don't know whether to add these people or not because if it's not true I don't want to add them. I like my tree to be as accurate as possible. That being said, here are the potential parents:

	1600, Chantelle, Allier, France
Death	Chantelle, Allier, France   and Isabelle Roy (1610-) How much stock do we put in Ancestry's new gimmick? Do I add these two or not? Call me hesitant. Extremely hesitant. What do you all think?

Charlotte is said to be from Bayeux. The alleged parents from Allier. The first thing I would do is take a look at a map of France and see if this looks likely. People tended to marry in their village or the next. Though there are exceptions - the nobility, specific trades sometimes, and then people who moved to specific places where there would find people from their religious community (think La Rochelle, or Montbéliard).

So, a pairing of Charlotte from Bayeux with this parents can not be envisaged without knowing their story and having a justification for their moving from Bourbonnais to Normandy. It was not a small move. Or in other words - what you have here is implausible, on top of being unsourced. (note: more improbable things have happened, of course. I don't want to sound judgmental. Just trying to evaluate what is likely).

Wow. 587 km?! Four hour drive?! That's a long way for the 1600s. I was told that usually prospective significant others were in "courting distance".  Yeah. This doesn't seem plausible does it?

Then again we don't know if the family was well off or whatever. I mean a horse would take you there in half a day or so. Thanks for your help, Isabelle! Not adding these two!!

This is as reliable as any Ancestry tree suggestion (in other words, not at all). I would stay away from these suggestions but they may provide hints or leads when you hit a road block.

Good point. Some are correct but the places are different for a couple people.

well, that ancestry gimmick isn't new, just changed in operation, they've had those little flags for a long time.

Meanwhile, the thought that came to mind was that the name looks awfully similar to another who came here, namely Paul Hus  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hus-3  Both in Normandy.  Don't know how near the locations are that are given as their origins.
