I tried to enter a category into a project page [closed]

When I save the page and looked at it again, my category was in RED. Is there some particular thing I need to do to get the reference to the specific One-Name-Study into the Project page? Or is it considered too far off topic?

What are you trying to add?

I tried it first by it as a category on the project page, so either I erase it someone else did.

Meanwhile, I would like to add the following line to the Task list in Norway Project:

* Establish a bibliography for doing Norwegian genealogy research.[[Category: Norwegian Bibliography]]
Also is there a page showing all the Norway pages? I can't seem to find it.

Once created I will add the references I have and some locations they can be found, as well as my personal library for lookups.

I don't think you should edit a project page without the project leadership's input.

Maybe you shouldn't but nothing technical prevents you.

You (Judy) did add "Establish a bibliography for doing Norwegian genealogy research" as a task on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Norway - just that the bit about "[[Category: Norwegian Bibliography]]" didn't take.

I was also going to suggest that you contact the leadership of the Norway project, although, as said, the project is very inactive.

There is a category for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Norway_Project (not much in it) and there is a category for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Norway with the geographical subdivisions.

The https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Norway is, as you have noted for Norse Nobility. I take it that your interest is mainly in adding resources for later times?

The Norway Project does not seem vary active, and your initiative is a very good one. I'm not sure you need a category to start with, though? You could begin by creating a space page "Norwegian Bibliography" and listing stuff there.

Oh, wait, wait, wait! There is a page for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Norway_Resources already.

It's a problem with a lot of profiles being categorized directly under the Category:Norway_Project - they drown out the information pages categorized there.

Oh, and the people profiles under Category:Norway_Project are there because they have the {{Norway}} project box, which they shouldn't have unless they are managed by the project.
Yes, But there is not a list of Norway pages obvious anywhere.  See list on https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Smith_Name_Study for an example of what I mean.  It is difficult to go from one page to another. For example, I did not know Resources existed.  Now that I do, we need an obvious link and we need a task to fill it.  The page itself implies that it references other pages, but there are no other pages listed. That would be useful. Also the page's purpose isn't what I'm implying. Why couldn't we list general resources here? Such as the Norwegian Digital Archives and NewegianAncestry.com.

The comment about adding a task still applies, since we need to fill the page, whether it is called Resources or Bibliography.  I also haven't seen a reference from the Norway Page to the county pages, etc.

Thoughts out of order, but you get the idea.

You might want to make a page called

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Sources-Norway

and add it to this list

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Source

to match the others.

That's a great idea, RJ.
I've cleared out over half the top-level people in Category: Norway down to county level.  They could go lower.

Apparently there's already a nice sticker {{Norway Native}} which should presumably replace the project box on the profiles that have it.  That should clear out Category:Norway Project.

Thanks for your work. May I join you in working on Resources and clearing up the hierarchy?  I wrote the following to Jarl Mosand:

I have sent a messages to Doug Straiton and gotten no replies. I would like to join the project and take responsibility for the Resources and it's subpages with references by re-categorizing some and adding comment to others. It also needs links to the resources by county etc.

Comment?  And in amongst all this, we need to add an explanation about not using the profile box but instead using {{Norway Native}}.

It's all yours.  My knowledge of Norway goes about as far as knowing that Olso is a typo.

I changed {{Norway}} to {{Norway Native}} on the orphans.  By the rules there shouldn't be any project boxes, as there's no project account.
