If a Death Notice on familysearch does not have a citation may I refer to its contents as a source?

Peter,

In addition to what has been said below, FamilySearch has changed the location of some of their citations in the past year or so, and some citations are hard to find (until you know how they have "hidden" them).

There is often a drop-down now (mostly on the transcribed records). It is usually in the lower right corner, and you have to click on a drop-down arrow to reveal the citation.  I would check and see if that's the case for the record you are trying to cite.

Records that are photocopied usually have a tab beneath them that says "Information".  Once you click on the tab, there is a citation, although you may have to scroll down a tad. At the bottom of it all there is usually a button underneath that allows you to "copy citation" to your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere.

The death notice is the source.  If you found it on FamilySearch you should be able to cite it in a way that someone else could find it (“Transcript  of death notice attached to the family tree of xxxx on FamilySearch”)  or perhaps you can locate the actual record in a repository and cite that.

One thing to remember is that all info at FamilySearch can not be considered accurate.  (Voice of experience relating to my own immediate family.)  I totally agree with Kathryn that the death notice is the source and as cited as found. You might add === RESEARCH NOTES === section and indicate Need to locate actual record and enter primary source information.
