Copy and pasting census date but do not want it in paragraph form.

I am copying census data from say 1880 from sources to a family member, In the copy it is all flush left and I would like to keep it that way. When I paste it to my tree it looks like that until I hit preview then it is in paragraph form. Sure there is an easy keystroke to make it correct. Help please for a non computer kind of guy! Thanks in advance.

Sorry the flag was an error.

Is THAT how its done?

And here I have using the br tag for the last 12 months!!

Thanks Valerie
That is awesome.....Thanks so much for the help.
The more colons you use, the more the indent. I usually find two to be best to line up in the sources, otherwise one works fine in the body of the bio.
Thanks for the hint Lucy.
You can use the <br/> tag at the end of the line OR the : at the beginning of the line.  Up to you.  I prefer the br tag as that's the one I used when I taught myself HTML all those years ago. :)
Exactly Ros, That's the same reason I use the br tag as well, when I was learning how to make web pages back in 1998!!  LOL

I usually use the br tag to break up the lines - <br /> but keep the whole thing as a paragraph on the edit page.

Once you save the page, the formatting will look right on the view page.

If you use the <br/> tag, the whole thing will also look correct on the Preview page (from the button at the bottom).  The only thing which doesn't show on there are categories.  Templates yes, categories no. :(
