Need help with an error message

I adopted an orphaned profile (Keyser-501) added to, updated and improved the profile. When I try to register my changes by clicking on CHALLENGE TRACKER I get a screen that says:

User ID not found: 10657680

Note: Protected profiles and merged profiles are not part of public database .

UserID =  04363840  ProfileID = ID=73.236.175.32 Error in parameters.

What's going on and how do I fix it?

I just did a non-edit so I could see if I could duplicate and I got the same message. Very strange. You should move this question to WkiTree Tech and add bug and challenges to the tags.

Hi Deb,

I don't know how to do that other than retyping the whole thing (copy and cut-and-paste no longer work on Android tablets) and I've already spent far more time  away from my ongoing work than I should have trying to get the message typed in correctly.

I wondered if maybe the "Protected profiles" reference had anything to do with the fact that Edna'a parents have a Privacy setting of Public rather than Open? I messaged the PM and asked that they be opened up but she doesn't seem to want to do that.

Aren't we supposed to have all profiles not in a protected class open so tha other Wikiteers can help improve them?

Thanks for your suggestions. Maybe someone whose cut and paste function is working will step up and get the error posted where the techies can see it.

Hi, Skip,

You should be able to click the edit link under your question, then change the location in the Category drop-down to WikiTree Tech and then just type in bug and challenges under tags. No need to redo the whole thing. wink

I suppose it's possible it has something to do with the parent profiles, but I've never encountered it before. still seems odd since the profile in question is obviously open.

Thanks Deb. That worked .

Awesome. Now, if it's a bug someone will hopefully look into it, if it's working as intended, someone may let us know what the issue is. smiley

To request profile to be opened, person was born 150+ years ago or died 100+ years ago.  Her parents don't match that criteria, so they can remain locked, according to wiki standards.

Was the profile "Locked" before you started to edit (or at least 7 days ago)  - if that is the case then the profile might not have been in last weeks 'dump' of open profiles, over to WikiTree+ , for checking -  therefore now when you go and edit the actual profile there is no corresponding record in Challenges database to match it to - hence the error msg?
