Taking over profiles and categories

Question

Is it OK for a Project team to take over categories and profiles and not allow you to edit them because they want them to be part of their project?

I may not be following this well, just "saw" it but I have the question also.  I think I have had profiles (well one)that I could not do anything with because it was added to (maybe I added it??) "Southern Colonies . . something category.

I haven't followed it but saw this. I will be adding a problematic lineage that needs this kind of intervention.

I'm not completely sure what you mean by "taking over categories", but if you are asking whether categories that are incorrectly named or do not meet the definition of the purpose of categories on WikiTree can be renamed or deleted, then the answer is yes.

It would be nice to get an answer to Deb's question. Except for Personal Categories, individual profile managers do not own categories and they are managed by the Categorization Project. As she says, they can, and will, be renamed or updated if they don't follow the guidelines. In some cases they may be deleted.
