Just wondering if this could or should be added to the repositories listed on American Quaker resourses. If so, I have no idea how to do it. I'm horrible and navigating and using wikitree. h

Also wondering if anyone would be able to help with some North Carolina Davis Quakers? I know they were at Back Creek MM early 1800's like 1800-1820. It seems I've had better luck following the women that married into the Davis line than to actually follow the Davis line back. I'm looking for the father of John Davis 1763-1850. His wife was Phebe Rich. I believe they left Back Creek and joined either Center MM or Cane Creek MM. Sometime in the 1820's they left N. C. and came to Indiana. I've found them in Whitewater M.M. but I can go no further than Back Creek for John Davis nor find his father.

He had a brother, Ransom Davis (a bit more uncommon name) and he married Hannah Doan from either Cane Creek or Center. I thought it may be a bit more likely to find the father of a Ransom rather than a John. Last week I spent several hours in the archives at Guilford College but I came up empty.

Thanks,

Julian Smith

Don’t think I can help, Julian, but I think some of my relatives may have traveled with yours to Indiana. A couple of generations before, I had ancestors at Cane Creek. These were Underwoods.
I have seen some Underwoods here in Bartholmew County. My North Carolina Quaker ancestors came to Indiana as Quakers but became United Brethren and Methodists. The United Brethren had a college here until late 1800's Seems I've seen some Underwoods in the College cemetery. Not sure though.
What exactly are the votes over to the left side of the page?
Thank you. That helps.

Thanks for the link to the Quaker Archives at Guilford College, Julian. I've added the link you provided to the Quaker Project Resources page

William Ransom Davis is where I always end up but I can find no documents to substantiate. Any ideas on finding those documents? I don't think William Ransom is ever shown as living near Back Creek, Center, or Cane Creek where Ransom and brother John are reported to have been born. I have received many dna matches to others that suspect they descend through the William Ransom line, but other than dna, I have not been able to confirm.

Thanks,

Julian Smith

you will find Capt Will Ransom Davis parents and other children

just click on the sentence and it will take you to geni.com you may find what you are looking for there if not let me know

My DNA and my brother's Y-DNA show a William Davis b1725 from Frederick Co., VA and wife Elizabeth Shelton.  First five children born in Frederick Co. before they migrated to Rowan Co., NC after 1769.  Could there be two Elizabeth Sheltons?  Also, I have never connected to the name Ransom.  Davis-82334

I thought I recognized the name Phebe Rich. I have recently been working on that tree. She has a profile, Rich-3124, and she married John Davis, Davis-40689.  They are Quakers connected by marriage to the Frazier family.  I know part of the family started attending the Center Monthly Meeting.  I have been looking at the records available on Ancestry, so I will keep a lookout for your John Davis family.  Also, you might take a look at the ERI Rich Family TreeTree written by Eri Thomas and available online.  It may have some reference to Phebe and John Davis.  There is a link on Frazier-200.

That is all correct according to my records. I can navigate the Rich, Wall, Frazier family fairly easily. I can't go farther with John Davis. Phebe Rich did indeed marry John about 1794 in N. C. I've not been able to find anything in the Quaker records establishing the father of John or his brother Ransom Davis and am finding learning to navigate this site to take quite some time.
