hi Mary,

Not joining the project, already have way too much on my plate, but question for you:  Are ship sinkings other than Titanic included in here?

Wish they would find another name for Worldwide Disasters, which is a bit confusing, makes one wonder if Worldwide means something that hit the whole planet or anywhere on the planet.
Yes Danielle, there are other ship disasters within the project.

The project was named this to signify disasters that may be  the same type of disaster, but have occurred in countries worldwide and not just in one country.

World Disasters would communicate better to my mind than Worldwide Disasters.  World to me signifies anywhere in the world, Worldwide makes me think of things happening all over the world at the same time.  The Spanish flu would be worldwide, the Titanic is somewhere in the world.

Hi Mary and others

I currently work in the sub group of

New_Zealand, Disasters

We cover most the Disaster categories but only those that happen in New Zealand or as part of a Global Disaster that travelled  ( like deadly virus outbreaks etc) down to our part of the world

Graeme, if you would like to work with the Worldwide Disasters group, which covers all disasters over the world, just reply again.   Sounds like you are working on the same type of disasters, but have limited it to New Zealand.

We have members from all over the world.
I've added a bit to the NZ Mass Murder events - admittedly stagnant on it for a while now. Hoping to get some better pictures next year when I head back for a trip.

Hi  Raewyn, The title of your NZ Mass Murder events  sounds like it might fit into one of these subprojects,   https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Gangsters  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Outlaws

which are part of the Black Sheep project  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Black_Sheep.

Raewyn,  It could fit, after all when a lot of people die, its a Disaster whatever the reason.  We cover terrorism.
I'm not so sure a couple of those events were really by terrorists or gansters. It does not appear they seemed to plan to do what they did, if that makes sense? They were unstable people. The last one last year - yes that was domestic terrorism, but I'm loathe to start that one. I'm not sure how to be honest...many people were from all over the world and their origins, not to mention records, might be a bit elusive.
I'll defer to Graeme on this one :) He's actually been quietly working on that particular sub-project I started. Thanks Graeme. As always!

Hi Mary,

I have been doing some space pages on Queensland Disasters, namely shipwrecks and cyclones, so far. There doesn't appear to be any categories for them yet.

I would like to work with the Diseases, Pandemic and Epidemic Team.  I have been locating all the 1918 Influenza deaths in a county using online death certificates.
