One branch of my family is from Nispen near the Dutch-Belgian border north of Antwerp. In that branch many ancestors are Belgian, especially from the border region. Most are from Essen, which is near Nispen, just on the other side of the border.

So I'd like to join the Belgium project.

Count me in. My special interest is the Hoste surname with Belgian roots. At the beginning of the 17th century, a certain Pieter Hoste moved from Tielt (current B) to Nieuwvliet (NL). His descendants have lived in the Nieuwvliet region for centuries, one of them was my grandfather Jozias Hoste who married a girl from Veldegem. So I have Belgian roots.

Yes, I'm very interested in joining the Belgium Project. My husband is Belgian, and all his immediate ancestors were Belgian or Dutch. Surnames: Gréant, Van Cuyck, van der Elst, Van Wanghe and many more. :)

You have been such a help with his tree!   Thank you for carrying on with this great project! I for one am very appreciative though a move has slowed my participation of late.

I am not interested in joining the Belgium Project at this time, but I am wondering if the project would be interested in having some sort of a role with several profiles for Belgian (mostly Flemish) people who are ancestors of New Netherland immigrants.  Some of these profiles have the Dutch Roots project box on them, but were not managed by Dutch Roots because the people were not Dutch. Some of these profiles (the ones I remember at the moment) are:

In general: yes, we're more than willing to help with or take over project management for Belgian profiles that are now managed by another project.
