Shadrach Ashley Alvis was a great-grandson of David Sr. He was born in Aug 1843 in Goochland Co VA, a son of William E and Mary S (Harris) Alvis; he was a nephew of the Shadrach who went to Missouri.
He was in the Civil War, a private in Co A 2nd Battalion VA Reserves. He married 1 Feb 1863 Kitturah Catherine Henley in Goochland Co VA (Marriage Records).
