Johann Wolfgang Braeutigam was born on 17 Mar 1829 in Germany to Johann Valentin Christian Bräutigam and Maria Elisabeth (Pfeifer) Bräutigam.
He immigrated in 1845 arriving in Texas.[1]
He married Christine Louise Charlotte Kensing on Sept. 1, 1850 in Fredericksburg, Texas.[2]
Together they became the parents of Johann August Braeutigam, Heinrich Braeutigam, Emma Sophie Braeutigam, Anna Elise (Braeutigam) Schuchard, Richard Valentin Andreas Braeutigam, Emma Sophie Marie (Braeutigam) Runnels, Otto Heinrich Paul Braeutigam Sr., Max Felix Braeutigam, Emil Braeutigam, Christine Elise (Braeutigam) Corby, Henry Wolfgang Braeutigam.
On 14 Apr 1864, he enlisted in the CSA in Gillespie Co. and served to June 1, 1864.[3]
Johann passed away on Sept. 3, 1884 in Fredericksburg, Gillespie Co., and was buried at Der Stadt Friedhof Cemetery in Fredericksburg.
