Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Kirt Fetterling, FTDNA kit #882308, and his 7th cousin once removed, James Fitterling, FTDNA kit #920205, match at a Genetic Distance of 3 on 37 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA Veit Fitterling. FTDNA indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor within the last 20 generations is 97.4% and within the last 9 generations is 57.55%.
