In 1854 his section of Telfair Co became part of the new Coffee Co, Ga.The legislative act creating Coffee Co, directed the first election forcounty officers be held in his home 1 Apr 1854. Sons Mark & Joel were 2 of the Inferior court justices. Court was held in Daniel's home until a courthouse was built and the town of Douglas established. Was ordinary of Coffee Co 1864-1870. Had an alliance with Catherine "Caty" Bowen/Carver having 5 children before she died. Had at least 2 slaves in 1848. He had one of the largest families in the county with 25 children.
According to Jessie H Paulk and Delma Wilson in Survey of Coffee County, Georgia Cemeteries: Daniel had children by Catherine “Katy” Bowen, children listed in Huxford Vol 2. According to the account in Jessie Paulk's book:"Lott Families of Wiregrass Georgia", p3-4, Daniel Lott (b 1791, s/o Mark & Delilah LOTT) married Lucinda PETERSON and had 11 children. "He had an alliance with Catherine (Katy) BOWEN. An account given by Albert Milton Lott told that Caty had 5 children for this Daniel Lott, out of wedlock.
When Caty died, Daniel took the children home to his 2nd wife Fannie Gaskin and told her they were his children and would be raised in his home as his other children. The children were: Richard, Sarah, Solomon, Jack (Jackson) and Frances, who married William (Willie) Marshall VICKERS.
