Samuel Scofield, son of Joseph and Eunice (Buxton) Scofield, was born 26 Dec 1716 in Newfield (Stamford), Fairfield, CT. [1] He died at the age of 84 on 13 December 1799 in Stamford, CT. His will was probated 27 February 1800.
While a bachelor, Samuel purchased 30 acres on Newfield Ridge, Stamford, Ct on Jan 9, 1736. [2] Samuel Scofield became a prominent landowner and a prosperous farmer. On May 4, 1779 he was one of the petitioners to establish the North Stamford Parish.
Secondly, Samuel married Mrs. Deborah Weed, a widow. Deborah Bell was born 28 April 1734, in Stamford, Connecticut. She was the daughter of Francis Bell and Hannah Jones. Deborah first married (or just had a son Stephen with) Stephen Hulee about 1754. Deborah Bell married Samuel Weed, and then Samuel Scofield. [5]
Private Samuel Scofield served with 9th Regiment, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.
Samuel Scofield is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A101327.
In the Adjutants-General's 'Record Service of Connecticut Men' (1889). "Samuel Scofield, 3d" is listed in the "Men that served at home but did not go to the Saw Pits or West Chester". He was discharged on Jan 28, 1777 and served 1 Month and 4 days.[6]
Samuel wrote his will 22 June 1798. [7]
In it he mentions:

son Ezekiel
son Nezer (? Ebenezer?)
Samuel died 13 December 1799, at age 82. He is buried in the North Stamford Cemetery in Stamford, Connecticut. [8]
