The previous picture of the house was before my husband and I and our Kids moved there for 3 years in the 1980s. This is how it looked after we restored it. The building in the foreground was always referred to as 'the barn' by my Grandparents when we visited as kids growing up. Actually, this building was my great-grandfather, Stephen Crosby's house before the old store was made into a home. The rectangular portion of the Crosby Home was the store building and post office at that time. Around 1900 the store was added onto and made the house it is today. We determined that the old store building dates back before 1850 by finding SC tax receipts with that date pasted to boards in that part of the building. The following picture shows the house around 1900 just after the addition and the store being made into a home. In front is the family, including my great-grandfater, Stephen Crosby, Jr and the rst of the family. MY grandfater is in the picture as a young man.
