Biography
‘’’Anna Scales’’’ was thought to have been born on September 12, 1772, in North Carolina. She was the daughter of Henry Scales and Mary Crunk.[1]
She Married John Nichols in about 1789, in North Carolina, at about 17 years old.
She is thought to have died in 1801.
In 1818, her father's will mentions his "son-in-law John Nichols" giving him one negro woman Hannah who he had already received.[2] It also mentions his granddaughters, Polly, Nancy, and Jeny Nichols, to whom he gives slaves. This will is dated 29 Aug 1818. so John did not die before then.
