Research Notes

  • The Find a Grave source shows him as having a middle initial of W. There is no W. on his headstone. None of his records indicate a middle initial of any kind. There is no indication that he was ever married to that individual.
  • This headstone that is purported to be his appears to be hand-carved and is partially buried with no dates visible.
  • Some say that he was married to a woman named Polly "Rainwater" Smith. There are no records found to document that claim.
  • The only marriage record between Andrew Baker and Nancy Briant which appears to have been applied for on 24 December 1816 in Washington, Tennessee. Then another record dated 5 January 1816 in Washington, Tennessee.
  • No birth records have been found at this time for any of the children that are attributed to him.
