Research Notes
The Find a Grave source shows him as having a middle initial of W. There is no W. on his headstone. None of his records indicate a middle initial of any kind. There is no indication that he was ever married to that individual.
This headstone that is purported to be his appears to be hand-carved and is partially buried with no dates visible.
Some say that he was married to a woman named Polly "Rainwater" Smith. There are no records found to document that claim.
