Biography

John was a son of Caleb Sawyer and Sarah Houghton. His parents married in Lancaster, Massachusetts, in 1687, and died in Harvard, Massachusetts. [1]

John Sawyer married Ruth. They had at least 2 children, Demaris b 1725 and Dinah b 1727. [1]

Probate

John Sawyer of Lancaster, husbandman died intestate and on 2 November 1731, his son Joseph Sawyer, of Lancaster, husbandman was granted the administration of his estate. His inventory was taken on 29 October 1731 in Lancaster.[2]

In 1732, an account of his estate by John Sawyer was recorded which included the sale of personal estate, debts paid, appraisers, and administration fees.[3]

In 1733, his son David Sawyer, aged about 17 years, named Jabez Fairbanks of Lancaster to be the guardian of his estate.[4]

In 1735, an account of his estate by Joseph Sawyer was recorded which included the personal estate, the sale of real estate, allowance to the widow, debts paid, and administration fees.[5]

Yes, sources are thin, but both spouses are Sarah Joslin, b. 1705, Massachusetts Bay Colony, same parents, same marriage date; death in New Hampshire.

Sawyer-3579 and Sawyer-444 do not represent the same person because: Obvious duplicate, same dates, places, parents, and source (FindAGrave); needs more sources, but the records are early 1700s and hard to find.
