Desire Gore was born on 20 September 1740 in Preston, New London, Connecticut Colony, daughter of Moses Gore (1709–1780) and Desire (Burris) Gore (1712–>1761).^[1]

Desire and Thomas Ratchford were married on 26 April 1762 in Cornwallis, Kings, Colony of Nova Scotia.^[2][3] Thomas was the son of James Ratchford and Margaret (Balls) Ratchford. Their children were:

1. Margaret (Ratchford) DeWolf (1762–1852)^[4]
2. James Ratchford (1763–1836)^[5]

Desire died on 12 April 1813 in Horton, Kings County, Colony of Nova Scotia, aged 72. She was buried in the Old Burying Ground in Wolfville, Kings, Nova Scotia.^[6][7]

Research Notes

• Other than a claim on Find a Grave, there does not seem to be any evidence that Elizabeth (Ratchford) Lyons (abt.1762-1843) was the daughter of Thomas and Desire. It is clear that she was related, perhaps she was the daughter of his brother James. Rounsefell-5 19:14, 3 July 2023 (UTC)
