Biography

Abigail Ellenwood, was born October 11, 1769, the daughter of Samuel and Sara Giles Ellenwood of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia^[1]

On February 2, 1792, she married William Saunders, born October 22, 1761, Joseph Saunders and Sarah Hill, of Haverhill Massachusetts^[1], and they had children, including

1. John, born February 11, 1793, who married Margaret Philips, daughter of John T. Philips; and who died February 11, 1855
2. Samuel, born December 9, 1797, who married Mary AE Johnson, daughter of William Johnson on January 17, 1822; and who died September 9, 1849
3. William, born January 11, 1799, who married Hannah Conwell of Digby Neck
4. Elizabeth Ann, born December 3, 1801, who married James B. Gallie and who died July 31, 1890
5. Sarah, born November 3, 1803, who married Henry Saunders 2nd, son of Henry on April 17, 1834
6. Hannah, born October 7, 1804, who married Samuel Ellenwood, son of Giles; and who married second Enoch Crosby son of Lemuel in June 1873^[2]
7. Phoebe, born August 29, 1806, who married James Trask, son of Captain John
8. Brooke Watson, born July 9, 1808, who married Angeline Doty.
9. Joseph, born May 4, 1810, who married Eliza Crosby daughter of Nathaniel, and who died 1887
10. Anthony, born May 22, 1812, who married Hannah Porter, daughter of Hezediah Porter III, and who died April 10, 1891.

Abigail died January 11, 1841 in Yarmouth^[1], and is buried in Brookside cemetery in Yarmouth^[3]
