Sampson Mason, Jr. born about 1654 probably in Dorcheter, Massachusetts Bay Colony, was the son of Sampson Sr. and Mary Butterworth Mason b: 1629. [1]
He most likely married Abigail Barstow, (she may have been the widow of Adam Feris). Sampson and Abigail Barstow date of Marriage 14 July 1685.
[2]
Our Sampson Mason, Jr. is listed twice in :
Rehoboth Area, Bristol County, Massachusetts History in
"The History of Rehoboth, Bristol County, Massachusetts History of Rehoboth Indian War", (Sampson Mason, Jr. listed as serving in the Indian war " Philip's War" under those engaged in the Narraganset Expedition). pages 116-117, [3]
In same reference source also listed in reference to a land record pages 66- 67 [4] . And again in same source, but this is most likely in reference to his father Sampson Mason, Sr. voting for him to receive lands 9 Dec. 1757. See page 48 [5]
Research Notes
SOME TREES have him married to Experiance Luis or Lewis in 1678. That is incorrect. That is a different Sampson Mason (1700-1731), which was the grandson of Sampson Sr., and the son of Isaac Mason (1667-1742)
CONFLICTING RECORDS: Other records show 1735 for a marriage date and it may have been that he had a second marriage to an Abigail Feris widow of Adam Ferris, but that seems unlikely as he would have been 81 years of age.
If he had a son named Sampson also, it would seem more likely that he was the one to marry Abigail Feris, or one of his nephew's may have been Sampson and married an Abigail Feris.
Abigail Ferris marriage to Samson Mason on 14 Jul 1735 in Massachusetts Bay Colony..[6]

Thanks Deborah, yes I do see a reference for that above , reference number 10. And that may well be correct with a marriage date in 1685. I am sure it was not in 1735 as many trees show. It is a bit confusing with the multiple generational Sampson's. And other Sampson's in the same area. Need to do more research.
You're welcome. I wasn't referring to the marriage date but trying to help confirm that Abigail's maiden name was Barstow & that she was the widow of Adam Ferris when she married Sampson Mason.
If she was married Adam Ferris in 1731 and he died making her his widow and then married Sampson Mason, then 1835 makes sense because it follows the date of the first marriage. Possibly, he was just one of those people who married later in life.
I think a lot of the problem is that there are mostly published transcripts in books, not images of the handwritten original records, online. I could not find images of them online. It might be necessary to try to locate & order copies of the original records if they still exist.
I'm also seeing a lot of people are confusing this Sampson Mason with Sampson Mason, the son of Isaac Mason and the husband of Experience Lewis. They put Experience Lewis as a first wife for Sampson, son of Sampson instead of her correct husband.

I think the 1685 date is an error. The source is not a reliable source. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:U.S._and_International_Marriage_Records%2C_1560-1900.

I did find the source for my notes, which is https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/146210168/sampson-mason so may not be reliable either.
