Biography

Dorcas Clapp was born on June 27, 1738, in Greenwich, Connecticut. She was the daughter of John and Alice (Allen) Clapp.^[1]

She had two husbands: William Sutton and Francis Nash.^[1] She married William Sutton in 1758, they had three children.^[2]. She married Francis Nash on October 14, 1767. They had 2 children.^[2]

She died on September 22, 1797.^[3]

Research Notes

The names of her parents are not correct in this profile. In book Adam and Anne Mott, their ancestors and their descendants it states her parents were John Clapp and Alice Allen. A few paragraphs later it says, in error, that her parents were John Clapp and Doris Quimby who were actually her grandparents, the parents of Dorcas' father, John.^[2]
