Biography
Agnes was the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor Heinrich IV from the Salier family. At about 7 years of age she was betrothed to Friedrich I von Staufen[1] as a reward for his support in the fight against Rudolph von Rheinfelden. After Friedrich's death in 1105[2] her brother Heinrich V married her off to Leopold III von Österreich[3] in gratitude for Leopold's support in his insurrection against his father. This marriage produced 18 children, 7 died in infancy and 6 male and 5 female children survived.[4][5] Agnes died in 1143[6][7][8] and is burried in Neuburg, Markgrafschaft Österreich, today Klosterneuburg, Austria.[9]
