Biography

Chrysostome Lejeune was born around 1740 in Acadia. Also known as Christophe[1] He was the son of Germain Lejeune and Marie Guédry.

He was listed at age 12 in the 1752 census at Baye des Espagnols, Isle Royale (present-day Cape Breton).[2] The family also appears to be in a second entry.[3]

It is believed that they married in 1766 or 1767 without a priest. That marriage was rehabilitated or revalidated on Aug 26 1771. This would make Aug 26 1771 the official date of marriage. He married as Christophe Lejeune dit Briard, son of Germain Lejeune dit Briard and Marie Guetri to Louise Galand, daughter of Pierre Galand and Cecile Laverne. They married on Aug 26 1771 in Au Passage de la Petite Brador, Nova Scotia.[4] See page 65, entry 51.

According to Butt, their children were:

  1. Bernard Amand Lejeune, b. 7 Feb 1768, d. 1786
  2. Stanislas "Jean-Baptiste" LeJeune, b. 22 Mar 1769 Cap-Breton, [Passage de la Petite-Brador] bapt 1771
  3. Joseph Christophe Lejeune, b. around 1770
  4. Marguerite/Margaret Lejeune, b. 1776
  5. Agathe Lejeune, b. abt 1773
  6. Jacques "The Fiddler" Lejeune, b. abt 1779, Cap-Breton[5]
