Biography

The Cooper family has not kept good family tree records through the centuries and decades and as a result, there is some conflicting information about some of the early ancestors. This Cooper branch has conflicting information about the father of Peyton, Allen and William Monroe Cooper. Both men are listed here as the possible father. More research needed to satisfy all parties about this ancestor.

Peyton Cooper was born by the Harpeth River in District # 23 Williamson County Tn. He married and lived in District # 10 Bedford County Tennessee and Died there in Dec. 1849. He is A son of Eacharid Zachariah Cooper, A school teacher and a teacher of vocal music, who came from England to Middle Tennessee about the year 1800 bring his Fiddle in its Cloth case. Peyton and Alice Dixon Cooper had A son who left Rover, Tennessee for the Gold Fields of Californian 1848 and returned to Izard County,Arkansas a RICH man. Find A Grave confirms there is conflict in information and in Peyton's case they have his date of birth as 1812 in Bedford County, Tennessee, USA and date of death as 1852 in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tennessee, USA. I have marked the original dates entered as "Uncertain".

Cooper DNA Project

Peyton was the son of Zach and Susan Cooper. He married Alice Dixon. Alice's sister Kiziah married Peyton's brother, Allen. Peyton's estate was settled in Bedford Co. TN, by Matthew Dixon, as requested by Alice, and appointed by the court. Alice then came to Izard Co., AR, with Matthew and other family members. May Peyton rest in peace in Bedford Co., TN. [1]
