Biography

She was born 21 April 1768, probably at her parents’ house in Grosvenor Square, Westminster, and baptised Maria Jane at St George’s, Hanover Square, 19 May 1768. ^[1] She was the daughter of John Lyon and Mary Bowes.

She married Colonel Barrington Price on 11 May 1789 at Houghton Le Spring, County Durham, England.^[2] They had eight children.

The family were living at Cerney House in Gloucestershire when she died suddenly, on her 38th birthday, after an illness lasting only two hours. ^[3]

She was buried at North Cerney, 30 April 1806, as “The Right Honble. Lady Maria Price, Aged 38 Years, of this Parish”. ^[4]
