Sary/Sarah Savage, daughter of John Savage and Sarah (Bowen) Savage was born 10 March 1674 in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.[1] Her father died in 1678[2] and her mother remarried in 1681,[3] but the family remained in Rehoboth.
Did she marry Nathaniel Sutliff? Torrey's New England marriages lists: SUTLIFF, Nathaniel (-1732) & Sarah [SAVAGE?] (1673-1733); by 1694; Rehoboth {Deerfield 2:330; New Haven Gen. Mag. 1713} [4] "[Savage?] indicates that Torrey was less than certain "or had reason to doubt the credibility of the source"[5] "Deerfield 2:330 is the History of Deerfield (published 1896) which states Nathaniel married Sarah, perhaps daughter of John Savage of Rehoboth.[6] "New Haven Gen. Mag. 1713" otherwise known as Families of Ancient New Haven (publ. 1922-1932) just calls her Sarah _____.[7] Two Sutliff Genealogies (publ. 1903 and 1909) claim positively that Sarah Savage, daughter of John, married Serj. Nathaniel Sutliff, [8][9] Both of these, typically, fall short of offering proof or evidence. Without further evidence Sarah's marriage to Nathaniel Sutliff remains questionable.
Sarah Sutlif, wife of Nathaniel, died 4 July 1733 in the 60th year of her age (age 59).[10][11]
