Samuel M. Honea was born August 30[1], 1870[2][3] in Madison County, Alabama[4]. His father was William J. Honea and his mother Martha A Carpenter.[2]
At the age of 18, Samuel married Alla Lee Jones in Madison County, Alabama.[5] That same year their first child was born, William Morgan. Followed by two daughters, Lula Mae in 1892 and Mary Hassie in 1894.
In 1900, Sam lived in New Market Township, Madison County, Alabama, making his living as a farmer on some land he was renting.[6] In 1906 another daughter is born Clattis. A few years later, on September 7, 1912, his wife died.[7]
In 1920, Samuel, now a widow, was still living in New Market Township, Madison County, Alabama, making his living farming with two of his children still living at home with him. The census indicates he owns the farm mortgage-free.[8]
On March 24, 1926, Samuel married his second wife, Laura Catherine Clark, in Franklin County, Tennessee.[9] They have two children together.
In 1930, Samuel lived on Huntsville Road, New Market Township, Madison County, Alabama. He was still farming, but indicates on the census record he is renting the farm.[10]
Samuel died on April 23, 1944 in Rural Route 2, New Market Township, Madison County, Alabama at the age of 75.[3] He was buried at Rice Cemetery in New Market Township, Madison County, Alabama.

Researcher Notes
Samuel's birth date was previously listed as 1868 based on newspaper clipping. The obituary was printed on April 24, 1944, where they state he is 75 years old. This would put his birth around 1869, but he does not appear in the 1870 census with his family. The first he is listed is in 1880, stating he is ten years old. The 1870 census was recorded on June 13, 1870, so his birth was after this date. His tombstone lists his birth month and day as August 30, and I assume the year is wrong based on the other records.
