Biography

Katherine/Catherine Woods was born about 1651, likely at Sudbury, Massachusetts, daughter of John and Mary (Parmenter) Woods. ^[1]

She is named in the will of her father John Woods, written Nov. 26, 1677. ^[2]

She married Joseph Newton about 1670, as their first child Hannah was born at Marlborough, Massachusetts in Sept. 1671. ^{[3] [1]} Joseph Newton was born about 1647, son of Richard and Anne (Loker) Newton. ^[4]

She died June 26, 1677 at Marlborough, Massachusetts. ^{[3] [4] [1]}

After her death, Joseph married second, Ruth Stone at Marlborough.^{[3] [4]}

He died their on Sept. 24, 1727. ^{[3] [4]}

In Joseph's will, written on April 18, 1726, he names, among others:

• wife Hannah
• daughter Hannah Maynard, wife of Simon
• daughter Tabitha Balcom, wife of Joseph
• son Joseph Newton and wife Abigail
