Biography

Daniel Pitts Dennis was born on 11 Nov 1836 in Livingston, Overton County, Tennessee, USA and his parents were Parnina (Gunnels) and James Dennis.

Daniel Married Catherine “Celia” (Ryan Payne) in 1859 Overton County, TN. She was born 1836 TN. Catherine and Daniel are listed in the 1860 census with their first child. Daniel Pitts divorced his first wife, Celia between 1874 -76. She and the first two sons stayed in Overton Co., TN. Daniel Pitts married in 1876 to his 2nd wife Evaline Violet Collins [1]. Evaline Collins Dennis was born 9 Jul, 1846 VA. After the birth of their third child in 1881, Daniel and Evaline moved to Farmer’s Branch, Dallas Co. TX. Several of Daniel’s brothers had migrated to that area.

Daniel died on 13 Jan 1887 at Farmers Branch, Dallas, Texas, USA. He was buried in cemetery of the Methodist church founded by his uncle in Farmer’s Branch, Texas

Evaline Collins Dennis had a brother living Henry Co., Missouri which may had promoted her to move to Henry County with the sons after Daniel’s death Evaline died 21 Jan. 1933 in Henry County and was buried at White Oak Cemetery[2] where many of the Dennis family is buried.

Son Joseph Allen “Joe” kept in contact with the Texas Dennis family . On a visit to Texas he met his wife Harriett Hoffman. Joseph “Joe” and Harriet married 1898 and moved by wagon to Henry County, Missouri.
