Biography

Edward Snow was the son of Joseph Snow III, b: 1694 in Eastham, Massachusetts Bay, New England, and his wife, Mercy (Knowles) Snow, b: 16 Nov 1704 in Eastham, Massachusetts Bay, New England. ^[1] He was a great-grandson of original immigrants Nicholas Snow and his wife, Mayflower passenger, Constance (Hopkins) Snow, who landed at Plymouth Rock in 1620 from England.

On 23 Jan 1755 in Eastham, Massachusetts, Edward Snow married Martha Harding b: 1722 in Eastham, Massachusetts Bay, New England. Martha was the widow (of Samuel Brown Jr., m: 1741) and had 4 young children when she married Edward Snow. The couple lived in Eastham, Barnstable County, MA and had 2 daughters together: ^[2]

On July 6, 1765, Martha (Harding, Brown) Snow died at Eastham, Barnstable County, Massachusetts Bay province, New England. She was buried at the Bridge Road Cemetery where her tombstone states she was the wife of Edward Snow and 43 years old at time of death.^[3]

After her death, Edward and his daughters left Cape Cod and moved to Gorham, York County, Maine, then part of the Massachusetts Bay province. His older daughter, Thankful Snow, never married; she no doubt kept house for her father, who also did not remarry. She died in Gorham, Maine, on February 15, 1837. ^[4] Her younger sister, Elizabeth Snow, married Saul Cook on February, 23 1781 in Gorham, York, Maine. They moved to Kennebec County, Maine.

Edward Snow died after 1783 in Gorham, York Co., Maine, USA. No grave site has been located on Find A Grave and the exact year of his death is not known.
