Biography

In 1725, a newspaper notice reads: "Ran Away on the first of this Instant October, from Isaac Little, Esq; at Marshfield, a lusty Negro Man, named Aesop, about twenty five years old. Had on a brown coat, checker'd woolen shirt, and grey yarn stockings. Whoever shall take up the said Runaway, and him safely convey to his Master, or give any true Intelligence, so as his Master may have him again, shall have Forty Shillings Reward, and all necessary charges paid."^[1]

Will dated 15 Aug 1751, proved 3 Apr 1758, names wife Abigail (she is bequeathed his manservant); dau. Mercy under 18; sons Otis, Nathaniel, Isaac, and Lemuel; dau. Mary Winslow. His inventory was taken on 18 May 1758 and included an enslaved black man and an enslaved black woman.^[2]
