One day in Tracadie, Canada when Marie's daughter, my mother, Alma, was about 10 years old, a 'hobo' came to their door and asked if the good woman could possibly give a cup of tea to a hungry man such as he? My grandmother not only gave him a cup of tea, she also gave him a large ham sandwich. He sat on their front porch and devoured his 'lunch' and was so thankful for grandma's generosity. Mom often told me that her mother was always smiling and was very kind to everyone. Wish I could have met her; but, she passed away when my mother was only twelve years old.

My mother told me this story about her mother, Marie Angele Hache-Brideau when I was a young girl.
