Foster Finch served with The Levies (Pawling), New York Militia during the American Revolution.
Foster was born in what is now Dutchess County, New York in 1761 to Jacob and Martha (Jacobs) Finch.[1] In 1779 he served as a Private with Captain Robert Wood's New York Company.[1][2] He was a part of the company called "the Levies" under Colonel Albert Pawling (he shows up in with the name "Fawster Finch").[3] The Levies were regiments that could be sent out of New York.[3] One biography of Colonel Pawling says that this regiment spent the war guarding forts in Ulster and Orange Counties.[4]
Foster died in Albany County, New York in 1843 and is buried in West Township, part of the Town of Knox.[7][8]
