Biography

Ernest William Minchin was born on 6 July 1855 at Geelong, Victoria, Australia. He was the son of Richard Ernest Minchin and Ellen Rebecca Ocock.

He married Helen Victoria Kildahl on 20 May 1879 at Geelong, Victoria, Australia.

They had five children.

Ernest was the manager of the National Bank. He was also an artist.

In 1886 he was sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labour for embezzlement of the sum of £1,000, the property of the National Bank of Australasia. He had temporarily loaned the money and intended to pay it back, but was caught before he managed to do so.

He died on 24 April 1894 at age 38.
