Biography

RICHARD DICKSON COOKE,Sr was born in Norfolk,Virginia on April 29,1880, 15 years after the American Civil War (Rutherford B Hayes' 3rd year as 19th U.S.President). Richard was the son of Merritt Todd Cooke,Sr & Mary Elizabeth Dickson of Norfolk. In April 1909, at age 28, he married Frances Webb Royster (probably in Norfolk,Va). He died in Norfolk, October 10, 1958 (Dwight D Eisenhower's 5th year as 34th President) and was buried in Norfolk's Elmwood Cemetery
