Biography
Jacob Guice was born in 1789 in Davidson, Tennessee. He was the son of Jonathan Guice and Anna Stump. When he was three years old he moved, with his family, to the Territory of Mississippi, near Nachez.
On April 19, 1812, he enlisted as a Captain in Col. Claiborne's Regiment of his He was a Captain of Volunteers in the War of his Company of Infantry, from the Milita of Mississippi Territory commanded by Col. Ferdinand L Claiborne[1]. He served in this capacity [2] from Sept 15, 1812, through Mar 26, 1813[3]. He was present at Baton Rouge in March 1813[4].
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
He was an early election official for Franklin County, Miss[5].
Living in Jefferson, MS, it was here he died in April 1852 in the woods 1 1/2 miles southeast of McNair. He is buried at the Armstong Cemetery in Jefferson. His son John was the administer of his estate.
