Page 76: "Lady Jane Cavendish, wither her sister Frances, defended Welbeck abbey during the Civil War but surrendered to the earl of Manchester. In 1654, as Dame Jane Cavendish and Frances, her sister, they received on fifth part of the marquis of Newcastle's estate which comprised an immense list of lands. She married Charles Cheney of Chesham Boys, Bucks."
