Biography

Kerry John was born in 1952 in Wichita, Sedgwick, Kansas. His father worked as a Tool and Die Engineer for O.J. Sutton. His mother was a Registered Nurse in the OB/GYN ward at St. Francis Hospital. The family moved in 1959 just after John had started the second grade to San Antonio, Texas where his father worked for Friedrich Refrigeration and his mother worked for Santa Rosa Hospital in downtown San Antonio. KJ graduated from Antonian College Preparatory for Boys in 1970. KJ’s first real full-time job was working for Baker Oil Tools in the manufacturing of oil tools for oil wells. Eventually, he matriculated to Southwest Texas State College now known as Texas State College. He graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree and went on to get a Master in Computing Resources and Information Management thru Webster University. In 1984, KJ married Linda Soefje who worked in the business offices at B.B. Saxon Company, one of the leading aerospace maintenance contracting firms in the country and one of San Antonio’s largest employers at the time. Linda transitioned into Civil Service as a Stenographer/Secretary at Randolph Air Force Base and later retired. From 1996 thru 2011 John work with the University of Texas Health Science Center in the Networking Department as a Network Analyst. His part-time job of teaching at a junior college later became his love during his later years working for the State of Texas.
