William and his wife Rebecca sailed aboard the Increase with four of their children (Sarah aged 9, Mary or "Marie," aged 7, Samuel aged 5, and William aged 1) aboard the Increase in 1635.[4][3] Sons, Nathaniel and John, were not listed as passengers aboard the Increase, but we have records of their presence in the colonies.[1] The family settled first at Cambridge but removed to Hartford, Connecticut by 1639.[1] From there, Norwalk, Connecticut in 1654 and finally Jamaica, Long Island, New York in 1665.[1]
Marriage
John married on 2 January 1650/1 at Hartford, to Rebecca Beebe, [3] daughter of John Beebe, the 1650 immigrant to Connecticut.[2][1][5][6][7]
Property and Positions
John lived in Hartford until 1651, when he became one of the fourteen original proprietors of Norwalk, Connecticut, where he witnessed the will of Richard Seamer in 1655.[5] In 1673, there is a record of John living in Norwalk.[8]
Death and Legacy
John Roscoe died intestate.[5] Inventory of his estate was taken on 20 Nov 1702 at Norwalk, Fairfield County, Colony of Connecticut.[5]
