Samuel came with his family to Brookfield in 1668, and moved to Suffield in 1678 after Brookfield was destroyed by Indians.

He became a member in full communion lst Cong. Church of Suffield under Rev. Ebenezer Devotion on 28Dec1718 having transferred by letter of recommendation from 1st church, Northampton, MA

Samuel's son Samuel IV (1685-1763) married Esther Phelps in 1710. Ester was the daughter of his third wife from her previous marriage with Joseph Phelps, whose name was also Esther Phelps (widow). Samuel IV and Esther Phelps had children: Silas b 1711, Amos b 1713, Dinah b 1717, Esther b 1719, Abigail b 1720, Joseph b ? d 1758

Thomas's estate passed probate. His will names five sons--Samuel, Thomas, Josiah, Daniel and Benjamin--and three daughters--Priscilla, Martha and Mary.^[1]

   Will of Samuel Kent Jr. by Tomaszewicz-6 Beginning near the bottom of the left page (80) containing: Sam Kent, in the margin:2 In the name of God amen I Samuel Kent of Suffield in the County of Hampshire in the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England April the twenty Seventh In the year one Thousand Seventee and thirty seven being grown into years and Subject to many Infirmities but of Perfect Dispose- ing Mind and memory thanks be given to God for the Same therefore Calling to mind the Mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all man once to dye do make and ordain this my last will and Testament (viz) Principally and first of all I give and commend my Soul to god that gave it and my body here commend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executor nothing doubting but at the General resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty Power of God continued top next pg 81: and as Touching Such worldly Estate where with it hath Pleased God to Be of me with hear in this life I give demise and dispose of the same in the following Mannor and form – Imprimis I Give and Bequeath to Esther my dearly beloved wife one third of my moveable Estate for Ever and one third part of my Real estate during life if that (together with her right of Dower in the Estate of her former husband) be not Sufficient for her Maintainance my will and Pleasure is that my Executor Shall Maintain her out of his Portion During life Item I Give and Bequeath to my Elder Son Sam three Pisces of Land (viz) one Piece being part of the Sequored Coirmont so Called lying near the Great Marsh Containing about Eighteen Acres and Three Quarters and one piece of Six acres of Land lying west of rattlesnake Plain and on piece of Seven acres of Firft Gzant land lying near Spensor Plain and Fifty Pounds to be paid within Six Months after my wifes Decease if She Survive me. Item to Thomas my Second Son forty five Pounds to be paid by my Executor one half at my Decease and the other half within Six monts after my wifes Decease if she outlive me-- Item to Josiah my third Son my meadow lying upon filon Brook bounding South upon Joseph Fullsn meadow and all my upland adjoining to meadow on both sides of the So. Brook valued at one hundred Pounds which he hat had a deed of gift already.
