In 1484 Jacques of Savoy married Marie de Luxembourg (1462–1546), granddaughter of Louis of Luxembourg-Saint-Pol, Count of Saint-Pol. They had one child, Françoise Louise of Savoy (1485–1511). She married Henry III of Nassau-Breda but died without issue.
Jacques received Saint-Pol from King Charles VIII of France, with other fiefs in Flanders and Brabant out of the inheritance of Louis of Luxembourg.[2]
Jacques of Savoy died on 30 June 1486 in the Castle of Ham, an old possession of the Counts of Saint-Pol.

I was wondering what the French Roots banner was doing on this profile. So it was added by the COGH project when they removed themselves from the profile. It should go, we're not managing the profile (though we have the unwieldy "son", Michiel) and Savoie was not part of France until the second half of the 19th century.
template is usually placed (in this case not, because of it's deep history status) it means that the profile is still in the process of being validated. The reason this profile became Project Protected is that there are a number of genealogies mentioning this person - Hanekhom, Geni etc., and the current managers were not pre-1500 certified. Also - WikiPedia is as little a reliable "source" as much as the others are as you know yourself. Given this situation merely disconnecting would be equally unsubstantiated. At this moment other project profiles have priority, as soon as the time is right we will attend to these deep ancestry profiles, getting them better validated. What you could do is enter the info from the Medieval Lands database and making your case / argument. As such the body of text is anyway in an unsubstantiated / unvalidated state of narrative.
What is the source for stating that Michiel is his son? Wikipedia only mentions a daughter as does the Medieval Lands database, neither mention an illegitimate son either. I think unless a more reliable source can be found, Michiel should be disconnected fro Jacques.
