Hi Sean,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are usually shared by many descendants, collaborating with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Review the project pages to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

Natalie ~ Pre-1700 Greeter

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

Hi Sean! Welcome and thanks for your note! The Memorial Walkers book that you shared is mostly wrong. (A lot of the genealogy books published in the 1800s had errors.) There's a series of Great Migration books written 1995-2011 by Robert Charles Anderson that are considered the gold standard of modern research and those are used by the Puritan Great Migration project here on WikiTree. In those books (they are online but require a membership to view), Anderson states that the "widow Walker" was probably the mother of Philip Walker but definitely not mother of James or Sarah, and the other children sometimes listed for her do not seem to have existed at all. More info here on G2G.

Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?

Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:

For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies

Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hello Sean, Welcome to WikiTree!

The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started. WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person. That means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have any research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? If so, when you confirm your email address, you’ll see a volunteer option on your profile page. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!
