Jean Cyriaque Pothier was the son of Martin Pothier and Emilienne LeBlanc. He was born January 27, 1891[1] in Tusket Wedge, Nova Scotia [2][3] , and was baptised that same day at St. Michael's in Tusket Wedge, Nova Scotia.[2][1] He immigrated to the United States arriving in Boston, Massachusetts in 1914[4] He was residing at 55 Havre St. in East Booston, Massachusetts working as a fisherman at the time of his marriage.[5]
He married Anastasie Leonice Boudreau, the daughter of Josue Boudreau and Elizabeth Pothier, on April 15, 1923 at St John the Baptist Church in East Boston.[5]
They had 2 children together:
He purchased a home at 136 Cape Wharf Rd in Upper Wedgeport from John Uriel Boudreau on June 15, 1927. The house was originally built circa 1873 on property owned by Jean Uriels' father Charles Marin Boudreau.[6]
Jean Cyriaque's son, Joshue Martin Pothier, was born there in 1928, and lived his entire life there.[6]
Both father and son where fishermen by trade. [6]
Jean Cyriaque died March 31, 1991[1][7] , and his funeral was held April 2, 1991 at St. Michael's.[1]
He was buried at St. Michael's Cemetery: Section A, Row 38, Marker 537.[8]
