Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
Thanks- I got inspired after listening to a webinar by Mags tonight! I am going to go profile by profile kind of like a genealogy do over rather than uploading my huge GEDCOM. Do you think I should just stay as a Family Member or move up to the next level? I have a lots of documents and photos to upload. I did start on my paternal Grandfather's documents just now. This is going to be an excellent way to verify all my evidence of connecting the right child to the correct parents! Karen
You will be able to work for a while before you will be required to upgrade to Honor Code status. In any case, you can do that any time before that requirement. Like all membership levels, it is free. Then, you'll be able to work on your family as much as you want without having to upgrade later.
Mags is one of my favorite WikiTreers. She is so much more skilled at DNA research and also hosts our weekly WikiTree round-up on YouTube every Saturday.
One thing you want to make sure of is that none of the documents or photos you want to upload are not under copyright. Most of the docs I've uploaded are personally owned by me, so no problem. Federal docs are OK and so are personally take photos along with those that are in the public domain.
I hope your WikiTree journey will be as fruitful and enjoyable as mine has been!
