Biography
Hector (Mackenzie) Mackenzie of Gairloch 4th Bt is a member of Clan Mackenzie.
Sir Hector Mackenzie was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.
He succeeded his father as the 11th Laird and 4th Baronet of Gairloch.
During his first childless marriage to Cochrane Chalmers, he produced 3 children with his housekeeper, Jean Urquhart. He provided for these children.
After the dissolution of his first marriage he quickly married Christian Henderson who produced an heir.
He provided impetus to the cod fishing industry in Gairloch.
He spent his time between Flowerdale and Conan House and only visited London once. He enlarged Conan House.
In 1815 he was appointed Lord Lieutenant of his native county.
Hector paid up the debts of his father and was able to leave a considerable fortune to each of his sons.
Buried at Beauly Priory. Known as "the Buck-Toothed Laird". 11th Laird of Gairloch 4th Baronet of Nova Scotia
