Biography

1776 Project
Private Moses Bardeen served with 3rd Regiment, Worcester County Militia, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.
Daughters of the American Revolution
Moses Bardeen is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A017113.

Moses Bardins/Bardean served in the Revolutionary War from 1775 to 1779 with Massachusetts Regiments and the Continental Troops. First served for eight months under Captain David Batchelor (6th Massachusetts Bay Regt) in Colonel Ezra Wood's 3rd Worcester County, Massachusetts Regiment. Immediately reenlisted in Captain Seagrave's and Col. Joseph Read's 6th MA regiment. Transferred to Captain Dimon Morton in Col. Henry Knox's artillery regiment - engaged in the Battle of Trenton. [Sources: NARA "Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Application File" - S12962 for Moses Bardean; AND DAR Ancestor # A017113 called Moses Burden.]

Moses 'Bardean' applied for a Revolutionary War Pension in 1833 and when approved, the money was sent to Abraham Maxfield the Post Master in Italy, Yates Co., NY. Pensioners were required to appear before a government agent to collect their pension. In cases where the distance was too great, an agent was engaged to appear in their stead. Ezra Chapin, Judge of Steuben Court of Common Pleas, certified Moses was living in Prattsburgh.

Final voucher for his pension listed his date of death as Nov. 10, 1843 in the State of New York. Document reported final monies were paid in 1844 by the Agency listed as Albany, New York - probably the state government coffers at the NY State Capital. Final voucher did not list his residence nor the county of death.
