Dudley Austin Avery was the first child (son) of Prudence (Avery) Avery (1788-1870) and Dudley Avery (1791-1854).
He married 3 Aug 1837 Mary Abby Edwards [b. 10 Sep 1818 @ Groton, CT, daughter of Thomas & Mary (Farewell) Edwards]; they had 9 children:
- Thomas Dudley Avery, b. 24 Sep 1828; married 29 May 1866 Catherine Hourley; no children
