Benjamin was born about 1705. He passed away about 1777. BENJAMIN HAVILAND, son of John (3) and Sarah Bergen, lived in Oyster Bay, N. Y., and was married at St. George's Church in Hempstead on Feb. 17, 1733/4, and d. July 20, 1751. His wife was Jane, daughter of Jonathan Smith of Hempstead and was baptisted in the church where she was married on Sept. 18, 1743.

Benjamin's will was dated June 8, 1751, and proven Sept. 16, of the same year. Mentions, his wife; eldest son Benjamin; sons John, Luke, Joseph; daughter Jane; John Bergen of Jamaica, cousin ; brother Luke of Great Neck.

The will of Jane, signed by her mark, dated Oct. 16, 1780, and proven Jan. 21, 1781, mentions as follows: grand-daughter Sarah Smith, a black cloak; Jean Smith, grand-daughter, silver shoe buckels; son-in-law Silvanus Smith; daughters of son Joseph, Jane, Jerusha, Jemima, Phebe and Hannah ; leaves son Joseph, her gold sleeve buttons ; son John.

April 16, 1752. Luke Haviland of Hempstead, Jane Haviland of Oyster Bay and John Bergin of Jamaica, all executors of Benjamin Haviland of Oyster Bay, sell Benjamin Barnett 264 and 52 acres in Oyster Bay for 1205 pounds. Wit. by John Robbins, Samuel Willis and Garott Noostraint.

An Inventory taken of the good and chattels of Benjamin Haviland of Oyster Bay, deceased this 20 day of July Anno D. 1751, by John Shank and William Seamans of said Oyster Bay appointed by the executors of said Haviland to wit : John Bargin, Luke Haviland and Jean Haviland. [2]
