John and Esther Duke's eldest son Moses Duke and Elizabeth Benson named their daughter Esther.
John Duke of Lancaster's widow continued to live on the Wateree River land. She
appears at least twice in the records after his death. In the January 1786 term of the
Fairfield County Court, the minutes show a road was ordered to "... be laid out from Stark's Ferry to join the road from Widow Duke's to Nicholas Thompson's old place ..."
